MQ Foundation Appoints Ann Richman as First Full-Time Executive Director

by | 27 Oct 2021

The MQ Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2018 devoted to advancing and supporting mental health research, announced that Ann Richman has been named its first, full-time Executive Director.

Ms. Richman’s appointment comes as the MQ Foundation implements a plan of strategic growth, development, and outreach, building on the successes of its partner organization,

MQ Mental Health Research, an international mental health research organization, based in London, which has invested over $27 million into mental health research since its inception.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the MQ Foundation. There has never been a more important time to support mental health research, and I strongly believe that the Foundation’s partnership with the world’s leading mental-health researchers will enable us to generate outcomes that will have a lasting and positive impact for those who struggle with mental health issues,” Ms. Richman noted.

Most recently, Ms. Richman was Director of Principal Gifts at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where she partnered with individuals, foundations, and corporations to raise over $25 million in transformative gifts. She worked closely with the Museum’s Presidentially appointed Council, as well as with other lay leaders who played a key role in raising the profile of the Museum.  Before that she worked for Ericsson, Inc. as a Director of Marketing Communications for the Global Mobile Internet Division. Ann currently serves on the Board of Common Denominator, an organization that helps in-need middle schoolers build math confidence through tutoring and mentorship.

John A. Herrmann Jr., President of the MQ Foundation, noted “We are very excited to have Ann Richman running the MQ Foundation. Her depth of experience, and development background will be integral to MQF’s success in raising awareness about our work and much-needed funds for mental health research.”

The MQ Foundation was founded in 2018 by Mr. Herrmann, a noted philanthropist and long-time leader of social service organizations in New York.

As the exclusive US partner of MQ Mental Health Research, the MQ Foundation works to create a world where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated, and one day made preventable. It funds multi-disciplinary research into mental health, across the spectrum of biological, psychological, and social sciences.
