As the first major charity funding research, we know the challenge is great so we need to be ambitious in our approach.
Our research aims
By gaining more knowledge about how and why mental health conditions occur, we can speed up diagnosis, improve the search for better treatments, and find ways to prevent mental illness developing.
Improve current treatments
We believe everyone should have access to a mental health treatment that works for them. That’s why we’re working to get more people the right treatment, faster.
Prevent mental illness
Some 75% of mental health conditions start before the age of 18, and can have lifelong impacts. Through research we can understand who is most at risk, and find ways to provide better treatments earlier - with the potential to transform lives.
We're committed to keeping young people at the heart of our research. Our Young People's Advisory Group is formed of 14 young people who have experienced mental health conditions directly or indirectly, to make sure we capture the concerns, hopes and attitudes of young people as we build our research and campaigning activity.
We are committed to ensuring research we fund has the biggest possible impact on mental health. Find out more about our pledge to achieve this.
