MQ is delighted to announce that four world renowned experts will be joining our science council.
Professors Stephani Hatch, Karoline Kuchenbaecker, Daisy Singla and Henriette Raventós will all be sharing their expertise to help ensure MQ’s research remains at the forefront of mental health science.
The MQ Science council is made up of global experts, from different disciplines, who volunteer their time to advice MQ on our research decisions and investments, and to oversee the research to ensure it is of the highest calibre.
The chair of the Science Council, Professor Peter B Jones from Cambridge University said:
“I am delighted that Professors Hatch, Kuchenbaecher, Raventos and Singla are joining the MQ Science Council. They help to make our council more diverse and globally representative, while the expertise they bring is invaluable. I look forward to working with them to plan, direct and monitor the research that MQ supports.”
Professor Stephani Hatch
Stephani is a Professor of Sociology and Epidemiology and the Vice Dean for Culture, Diversity & Inclusion at Kings College London. She has over 25 years of experience across sectors, locally and nationally, delivering interdisciplinary health inequalities research with an emphasis on race at the intersection of other social identities.
Professor Karoline Kuchenbaecher
Karoline is Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at the Division of Psychiatry at University College London. She is also the co-founder of the London Genetics network. Her research focusses on the genetic and environmental risk factors for depression by leveraging the unique characteristics of diverse populations.
Professor Henriette Raventós
Henriette is a full Professor in Human Genetics at the University of Costa Rica. A medical doctor by training, Henriette’s primary research has been on identifying genetic risk variants for complex inheritance psychiatric disorders, mainly schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Alzheimer´s dementia.
Professor Daisy Singla
Daisy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and Clinician Scientist at the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute at Sinai Health. Daisy’s research interests involve increasing access to evidence-based psychological treatments in both high-income country settings as well as low- and middle-income countries.
MQ Mental Health Research supports ground-breaking scientific research all around the world and across different scientific disciplines. Our Science Council reflects this diversity both by discipline and experience but also by it’s international nature. With the addition of these four, the Science council now boasts 18 members from five continents.
