James Downs and Embracing Lived Experience in Research

by | 28 Jun 2022

Over recent years, there has been a move to increase the involvement of people with lived experience throughout the research process. Research that is co-produced with people with lived experience means their views and input has been taken into account in the design and implementation of a study just as much as the academics and scientists.

In this latest episode of the MQ Open Mind Podcast, Professor Rory and I spoke to MQ ambassador and yoga instructor, James Downs. James is a member of the Gone Too Soon steering group, helping to shape the direction of MQ's next funding programme as an expert by experience.

In this eye-opening conversation, we spoke about the prevalence of eating disorders, the inclusion of people with lived experience in research, and improving your mental health through yoga.
