Registration is now open for MQ’s Mental Health Data Science Meeting 2018, taking place on the 20th September in London.
The meeting will bring together researchers and innovators to explore how data science can transform how we understand, treat and prevent mental illness.
Participants will debate how we can use all types of data such as health and administrative data, naturalistic data (eg information collected from social media and wearable devices), as well as large research datasets and cutting-edge analytical tools, to transform mental health.
The 1-day event will include speeches from leading experts in the field, parallel sessions with an opportunity to drill down on specific topics, and a poster session, and offers a unique opportunity to connect, share findings and methods, and discuss the latest developments in this fast-moving field.
Who is it for?
Researchers and innovators who have an interest in mental health data science. We welcome scientists at all stages of their career, as well as other mental health stakeholders, including clinicians, commissioners, people with lived experience (see assisted places below), mental health funders and charity representatives.
The event is being organised by some top names within the data science field:
- Andrew McIntosh, University of Edinburgh
- Steve Pilling, University College London
- James Somaruroo, HS.
- David Clark, University of Oxford
- Rachael Panizzo, Medical Research Council
- Aleksandar Matic, Telefonica Alpha Health
- Mirco Musolesi, University College London & The Alan Turing Institute
- Jean-Baptiste Pingault, University College London
- Till Baerninghausen, Universität Heidelberg & Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
- James White, Cardiff University
- Honghan Wu, University of Edinburgh
- Sumithra Velupillai, King’s College London
- Maria Liakata, University of Warwick
We particularly encourage students and early-career researchers to present a piece of recent work in the form of a poster. If you would like to apply for a poster presentation, please submit your abstract through the registration form before the 31st of July.
Pitch an Idea and Find a Co-founder
We’re working in collaboration with the healthtech accelerator, ‘HS.’, to find innovative and commercially-friendly ideas that could have a substantial impact on mental health. If you have an idea you’d like to pitch please submit a short abstract through the registration form before the 31st of July.
This is an excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, gather feedback, explore avenues for funding, and even find a collaborator or co-founder for your idea.
We understand that some may not have the financial means to attend this conference. For poster or pitch presenters, a limited number of travel bursaries of up to £300 per person are available. To be considered for a bursary, simply complete the relevant section of the registration form and register before the 31st of July.
A limited number of assisted places are available for people with lived experience. These include free registration and the reimbursement of reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses. If you are interested in applying, please contact MQ via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Successful applicants will be drawn from a ballot and notified by email.
