Investigating overlap between physical and mental health

This research study led by a team at Aston University and the LPT Trust is looking at how physical healthcare can be improved for those with mental ill health. 

The research involves one semi-structured interview which will take place over the phone or in person in Leicester (if possible depending on location). The duration of this is 45-60 minutes approximately.

We are looking for:

Participants, who:

  • are service users
  • have a diagnosis of severe mental illness
  • are over18 years old
  • have the capacity to consent  

Or:

  • Care professionals
  • individuals who have direct contact with those that have severe mental illness
  • informal carers of service users recruited to the study

Recruitment is focusing on those from BAME backgrounds and primary care staff (GPs, community pharmacists, nurses).

Expenses:

Participants will be reimbursed all reasonable travel and out of pocket expenses if the participant has to travel to take part. All service users and their carers will be offered a gift voucher of around £10 as a gesture of good will. Care professionals will only be offered a gift voucher of around £10 if they take part in their own time (not within work time) .
