London Marathon Runners

by | 29 Sep 2021

We are so proud to have some amazing supporters running the London Marathon this weekend to help raise money to support mental health research.

Here we find out why this cause means so much to just a few of them and how you can support them.

Max Jessop

The reason I am running the marathon for MQ Mental health research is to honour someone I lost to suicide. She was so beautiful, inside and out. She was loved by everyone and was a truly special person. The amount of support I have received has astounded me. This just goes to show how many people would have supported Hannah through her hardships.

Ross Allison

I am running because I consider myself one of the lucky ones to have been able to overcome mental health issues by myself. However there are so many people who are not in the same position and so the research done by MQ is pinnacle in helping to improve diagnosis and get people the help they need. It is also incredibly important to lift the stigma which still exists allowing people to talk and get help where needed.

Nilesh Taylor

I'm fundraising for MQ, as mental health issues have had a very real and personal impact in my family. Keep supporting, keep positive and keep running!

Ben Salisbury-Best

Running my first marathon this year for MQ Mental Health. Busy hours working as a Theatre Support Worker means that running is not a chore, but instead a nice opportunity to clear my head and have some time to myself. Can't wait till October 3rd, but also loving the process!

Oscar Lopez Valido

Being a Student this year I have seen first hand the impacts of the pandemic on young people's mental health. Mental health issues are tragically common amongst young people today, therefore I believe there is no better time to be running for MQ and trying to contribute to the amazing work they are doing as much as I can. This event will be both mentally and physically challenging for myself and all others running. But I hope that in doing it and raising money for MQ we can help to stop others going through mental challenges in their day to day lives.

Andy Heys

As a suffer from mental health and coming out of the other end I think it’s important to try and raise as much awareness as possible and the more money that’s raised will help massive.

Good luck to all of the Team MQ runners!
