Brighton Marathon
The Brighton Marathon is fast and flat with incredible crowd support, live music and a great atmosphere – it’s an ideal first marathon!
About the race
Over 12,000 runners take part in the marathon each April, enjoying a course that starts in Preston Park, winds its way through the city centre, along the glorious seafront and finishes at the iconic Madeira Drive in front of thousands of cheering spectators.
Since the first Brighton Marathon in 2010, the Brighton Marathon has grown dramatically to become the Brighton Marathon Weekend attracting larger numbers of runners and spectators each year to the city.
The route
The event once again begins in Preston Park and goes north towards Withdean before taking participants south through the city and past some of Brighton’s most iconic landmarks including the Pavilion.
The route then goes into the neighbourhood of Kemptown and follows the coast to Ovingdean past white cliffs before turning back for a breathtaking view of the city. Runners will then run west along the coast past the Brighton Pier, West Pier and i360 before making their way into the supportive neighbourhoods in Hove.
The Finish Line is back on the seafront at Hove Lawns, taking finishers past the infamous beach huts into the beach village for celebrations.
