We’ve relaunched our award-winning MQ Open Mind podcast as a webinar. We are discussing the science behind mental health and addressing some of the most important current topics in mental health.
Our next webinar is on Black mental health matters. You can join us on Thursday 13th August, 5.30-7.30pm to learn more about the important topic of Black mental health. Reserve your free ticket now.
Following the death of George Floyd in the United States, there has been another wave of the Black Lives Matter movement across the globe - highlighting the importance of addressing systemic racism.
Why are we discussing Black mental health? Black British people are more likely to be to be detained under the Mental Health Act, diagnosed with psychosis or to encounter inpatient mental health services than white people in the UK.
We want to discuss the most pressing issues in Black mental health with experts and those with lived experience of mental illness, as well as explore how mental health research can be more diverse and inclusive.
We are delighted to have five panellists joining us for the event:
- Andrea Corbett, Coach, Personal Trainer and MQ Ambassador
- Dr Charles Willie former CEO of Diverse Cymru
- Dr Jessica Fletcher-Rogers, Trainee in psychiatry – volunteer for Colourful-Minds
- Dr Samuel Oyekan, Specialist Trainee CAMHS Psychiatrist – volunteer for Colourful-Minds
- Suzanne Duval – BME Mental Health Manager, Diverse Cymru
If you would like to ask a question, please tweet us before 4 pm on Wednesday 12th August so we can send them to our panellists in advance.
This webinar is for everyone, whether you are Black or an ally wanting to learn more. Join us for our free webinar on Thursday 13 August, 5.30-7 pm. See you there!
